Baby Stage Manager
Stage Managing at the Vally Forge Music Fair in Devon, Pa. A 3000 seat theatre-in-the-round.
Ahhhh to be young again!
It's been over a year now that I've been laid off from my Management full time job due to a "restructure" in the company. It sure seems like many companies are "restructuring" more and more latley.
Local 97 is the only reason I'm still able to collect a paycheck and work in the entertainment industry. I've been a member in good standing since 2002, and I've always said that the IA would be here for me long after the management job was gone.
It sure weems that companies have grown extremely greedy in the last ten years.
The higher the layoffs, the higher the profits go.
In all fairness, if I owned a company and was able to lay off 100's of people and still make record profits, what would be my motivation to bring these people back to work. According to the GOP, I'm a job creator! Not any more. I've been nothing but a job destroyer.
I hope the unions can get back some of the strength they are losing and bring the middle class back.
